Step 1

A phone call from you requesting a fixed price quote to supply you with a full design service including architectural drawings and plans, in order to obtain your statuary approvals including Planning / Building regulations for your project or simply building notice application, if required. At this point we would like you to provide us with some general information, as follows:

Type of house you wish to improve: Semi detached, terraced, detached etc.
Type of project: extension, loft conversion, refurbishment, new build etc.
If extension: What type - eg single / double storey, side, rear elevation etc.
If loft conversion: Velux, dormer side area etc.
Location: West sussex. Surrey, Kent etc.
What type of area is the propery in: urban, greenbelt, etc.
Any restrictions that may apply to your home, eg Grade 2 listing.
Other extensions or improvements that you have had previously.

Step 2

Once you decide to appoint ABM we will arrange for a site visit, firstly to ascertain your personal requirements, and any planning restrictions that may apply to your home.

Once we have established a clear understanding we then set about designing your improvement. We achieve this by firstly listening to your ideas and then combine them with a sympathetic design using a winning combination of traditional building methods along with the latest technology.

Our experience has shown us that our customers are seldom short of ideas, our strength is the realisation of these ideas, coupled with our ability to design your project to both meet your requirements, and to enhance your home.

We firstly supply you with a set of preliminary architectural drawings detailing sections and elevations. Once you approve the scheme, we then submit these building plans to your local Planning Approval Office. Some developments are exempt from Planning Permission but may require Building Regulation Approval. Building plans will still need to be prepared for building regulations (please refer to the Useful Links section at the right).

Step 3

Once planning has been approved or we have gained confirmation that your proposal is deemed as permitted development, you will then require Building Regulation approval from your council.

We will produce detailed planning drawings including a complete specification. Our expertise goes beyond government and NHBC guidelines, specifying building materials that are kind to the environment and to your pocket. Our commitment to our customers doesn't just stop once we obtain your approvals, if required we will continue helping you to design the interior by appointing our own interior designer, who will listen to your ideas and then advise you how best to create your ideal living space from the right choice of colours, fixtures and furnishings. Of course you are totally free to develop your own ideas but we are always on hand if you require some ideas.

Step 4

From architectural drawings through to construction

We then go on to supply you with a fixed price quotation to carry out your building works, based on the building plans produced. Our quotation is a fixed quote, and not an old fashioned estimate still favoured by others. You are under no obligation once architectural plans are prepared to go forward on to the build, however we are of the opinion that that the service we offer is second to none and our costs are very competitive. The majority of our clients favour our approach to home extensions, as it keeps everything under one umbrella.
